Why brine shrimp are fantastic pets

Why brine shrimp are fucking awesome

So this is uncanny sounding, but I keep brine shrimp as pets, also known as sea monkeys, aqua dragons, fish food, artemia, whatever you call them I keep them. They're an ancient breed of crustacean that's been around for hundreds of millions of years, virtually unchanged, known for their ability to lay egg cysts that can be kept in packets and sold to children.

SO yeah, I'm an adult keeping childrens toys, and the reason for that is... come on, they look so fucking goofy swimming around backwards, I mean the fact that you pour some packets into water and boom, you got lifeforms that can live up to 2 years just like that is facinating to me. They are stupidly easy to care for, not super common these days, and can breed consistently, which means you have an unlimited supply of these little guys. Grow some algae in their tank, install an air pump, a heater, and a good lid, and you basically have a self sustaining ecosystem of shrimp.

Sea monkey eggs survived the vacuum of space and were hatched on earth weeks later and lived normal lives, how many of you can say you as a fetus was thrown into space and then born a few weeks later? Exactly.

In the end, I love these guys, so I would give raising them a try.
